What is Employability Skills Training?

Employability Skills Training can help you better understand what employers expect in the workplace and when you apply for jobs. You can learn the skills and behaviours you need to help you find and keep a job. Our Employability Skills Training programs explore career options, and build on your job search and workplace skills. While participating in our Employability Skills Training courses, you can expect a meaningful service which is driven by your choices and includes group based learning activities and projects, with additional 1:1 mentoring support personalised to your circumstances and career goals.

We offer two types of Employability Skills Training courses: Block One (for youth and for aged 25+) and Block Two (generalist and specialist) courses. Our Block 2 specialist course is tailored to the Transport and Logistics Industry.

Block One builds the workplace skills that employers want, such as:

  • communication skills
  • problem solving
  • time management
  • teamwork
  • understanding and using technology.

Block Two (generalist) focuses on advanced job searching skills, interview skills and career development. Core skills include:

  • writing your resume and job applications
  • improving your interview skills
  • job preparation and job-hunting skills
  • industry awareness experiences to give you insights into the tasks and duties of different roles.

Jobs Statewide's Block Two (specialist) focuses on advanced job searching skills, interview skills and career development in the Transport and Logistics Industry. Core skills include:

  • writing your resume and job applications
  • improving your interview skills
  • job preparation and job-hunting skills
  • industry awareness experiences to give you insights into the tasks and duties of Transport and Logistics Industry roles.

Employability Skills Training courses are usually run face-to-face in a group setting, for 75 hours over three weeks (25 hours per week).

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible to participate in Employability Skills Training if you are: aged 15 years or over, registered with a Workforce Australia provider, and participating in either:

  • Digital Services
  • Enhanced Services
  • Transition to Work
  • Disability Employment Services
