Community - Work Experience


Jobs Statewide has been involved in hundreds of programs which have restored and beautified iconic locations across the state. These programs deliver vital skills and experience to participants while making a major contribution the community as a whole.

The activities have included:

For Zoos SA
Preparing and cultivating an eight-hectare property at Bolivar so bamboo could be grown for the Adelaide Zoo’s pandas, Wang Wang and Funi. Participants developed their horticultural skills by using a range of equipment and techniques.

For the National Trust of South Australia
Working on the restoration of the heritage-listed Beaumont House. Participants helped restore stone walls, painted the building and rejuvenated the property’s olive groves and grape vines. They also planned, planted and maintained two large garden areas.

For the National Railway Museum
Upgrading facilities, including Callington Station. Parts of the administration area were renovated.

For the Animal Welfare League
Participants helped upgrade the league’s Wingfield facility, gaining skills in painting, carpentry, landscaping, gardening and general maintenance.

For the Rotary Club of Morialta
Collecting, refurbishing, packaging and dispatching donated medical equipment to developing countries through a Rotary International program.

For the West Adelaide Football Club
Redeveloping and refurbishing facilities at the West Adelaide Oval. Participants developed a mezzanine area in the players’ gym, refurbished the main ticket box and replaced windows in the grandstand, gaining valuable skills in general building, construction and painting.
