Brenda

After being retrenched and experiencing a marriage breakdown – and unable to access any of the family assets – Brenda found herself on the brink of homelessness.

Yet her previous experience in the education and community sectors meant she had excellent prospects once she dealt with her pressing financial position.

Jobs Statewide was able to help in the short-term, and also by referring Brenda to a New Enterprise Incentive Scheme program, which provided the assistance she needed.

The long-running government scheme has helped more than 100,000 people to develop new small businesses.

Brenda is now establishing her own business consultancy, which will help small businesses and community groups with grant applications, marketing and other strategic advice.

She said she had been extremely impressed by the support she received from Jobs Statewide.

"They were respectful of my previous experience and they were supportive of me working towards a new direction," she said.

Brenda is now focusing on "making visions happen" for others.
